Kentucky has taken its state pavilion to BIO for eleven consecutive years. From the state’s leading research schools, to local and regional economic development groups, to biotech companies large and small, the pavilion at BIO helps each efficiently and effectively promote themselves to the global biotech industry.
“Kentucky is proud of its long-standing association with the BIO organization,” said Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear during his visit to the pavilion in Washington, DC. “Our annual participation at BIO has helped attract new business, new companies, and new collaborations that have created jobs and helped boost the economy of our entire state.”
Some of the biggest supporters of Kentucky’s presence at BIO are the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville, which both send large contingents to help promote their schools’ intellectual property, research expertise and facilities, and identify opportunities for partnerships and collaborations.
“From a marketing viewpoint, I believe BIO is very beneficial for the University of Louisville. It is an opportunity to promote our intellectual property licensing opportunities to a large number of biotech and pharmaceutical companies, all located in one place,” said James Zanewicz, Director of the University of Louisville’s Office of Technology Transfer. “Our team visited over 60 key target companies, conducted more than 50 presentations, and made dozens of new company and key personnel introductions. This sort of “target rich environment” is only available during the annual BIO convention.”
